FIVE tips to stay sane these holidays....

It's no surprise that by the end of the year we are all feeling a little spent and, even though this year many found ourselves not working for a short period of time, or working from home, the stress of the unknown has definitely taken its toll. Throw Christmas, New Years and the school holidays into the mix, juggling social engagements and family commitments whilst trying to play perfect host and Santa, it's no wonder we start to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. It's important to look after yourself and here are five simple and effective ways to do this....
1. GET ORGANISED
Take some advice from Santa, Make a List and Check it Twice! With a million tasks running through our heads, making a list is the only way to stay on top of what you need to do. Don't leave anything to chance, as the disappointment when things don't go right on the day can leave you feeling stressed and anxious.
2. AVOID THE MALL AND SHOP SMALL
Don't leave the shopping to last minute. You've made the list now action it! The earlier you shop, the less crowds and the less stress. Get out of the big shopping centres too...there are plenty of small businesses supporting local makers for truly unique gift giving this year.
3. BE KIND TO YOURSELF
You don't have to be a superhero, the house doesn't have to be perfect, you don't live in a magazine. The kids are home from school, they're gonna make a mess, it's OK! There's always tomorrow and it's more important to live a life filled with quality moments than perfection.
4. LEARN TO SAY NO
December and January are the Party seasons, but also for many the only time throughout the year that holiday's present themselves. It's OK to pick and choose those events to attend, make sure you don't burn the candles at both ends before having to head back to work. Make time for you too!
